Signature Highlights
“The future influences the present, just as much as the past”
-Freiderich Nietzsche
…and with that in mind, let us tell you the story of our Signature Highlights.
Bundy & Bundy- a household and world famous hair dressing brand began in 1919.
Among the Bundy family during the early 1960s, a young hairdresser by the name of Georg went to work in Sweden and advanced his skills with another talented woman by the name of, Inga Borgstrom.
During their time working together they noticed that many of their models had quite fragile hair. They began to brainstorm on how best to achieve the blonde- yet also preserve the integrity of the hair. They wanted to be able to only lighten or color the exact strands they needed while separating and protecting the remaining hair. Thus, the beautiful technique, creating a cascading brim of foils was born.
Upon Georg’s return to Vienna, he and his brother Hans, worked to master the system and teach the technique to their salons stylists- it eventually became, and to this day is named:
“B Signature Strahnen.”
…picking it up and bringing it to the present day- which has landed us (and you 😊) here.
Inge Handing, who began her training with Bundy & Bundy in 1972, moved to America and opened her Tampa salon in 1988. Since then, every team member that has trained under Inge has been taught these Signature Highlights which serve as our version of ‘traditional highlights.’
This technique, which has proven to be ahead of its time, plays an extremely pivotal role in haircare as it stands today. Allowing the creators and stylists to work with the natural curvature of the head, seamlessly apply multiple tones, lighteners, and base colors at once. All while preventing overlap and conditioning and protecting the strands in between.
Like anything that has made its mark on history- this technique has popped in various forms and under various names. It’s time to continue to spread the word and share with fellow artists and creatives. And while we invite you to broaden your vision and skills- we also hope that you’ll join us in preserving this art.
As we continue to elevate our industry- let’s praise and fortify this technique along the way.
Join us as we welcome you into the world of Signature Highlights.
